Open of Course standing proud in the Open Source Community

Open of Course is a really cool public education site/project maintained by the Open Source Community. There are a ton of different subjects and/or languages to choose from. Many different Languages are available, all are free and completely supported., A large part of Open of Course are the language courses, but possibly It's best available recourses are the"Tutorials". Many of the better known Open Source projects are covered, each of these courses helps to become familiar with them and let's users jump right in. There are plenty programs, i.e. Audacity, Scribus, Open Office, The GIMP, Etc. the courses are short and effective. They provide great reference materials. In fact each of the courses includes a users manual of whatever it's subject topic. And the forums are a handy place to ask a question.

Knowledge is there to be shared

Open-Of-Course is a multilingual community portal for free online courses and tutorials. By "free" we not only mean free as in "free beer" but also published as open content. The focus is on educational information where people can benefit of in daily life.

Most of the courses offered here at the moment are related to computers, internet and learning languages. In the future we hope to offer more content on things like getting a job, business, hobbies, earning or saving money, self improvement, etc. Open-Of-Course is based on Moodle, an open source electronic learning environment (ELO). Our portal is free for everyone to use. It is financed by advertisements and donations.

Open-Of-Course is also sponsored by Mingos and Freelancenetwerk two small duch companies with a passion for free and open source software. With this portal we hope to give something back to the free and open source software community.

Open of Course Community

When you register at Open-Of-Course you become part of a self-supporting community. All our courses have fora, where people can communicate and help each other.

So if you join us, we hope you will become an active community member. Everyone has his own knowledge and with that you can help others out. If there is a subject where you have good knowledge off, we would like to invite you to volunteer on helping open-of-course grow:

We are looking especially for:

Language coordinators for all languages, except for English and Dutch: your tasks will be finding open content educational material in the language of your choice and add it to our system and coaching translators for existing courses to other languages.

Translators who like to translate our courses to other languages.

Course developers who want to share their knowlegde and add their own content to our portal.

Forum adminstrators who want to admin one or more of our fora
